Heather Bulk is the Chief Executive Officer of The SAS Family of Companies: Special Aerospace Services (SAS), SAS Flight Factory, and Rocket Apparel. She is also co-founder of the Who Dreams Wins Foundation.
Ms. Bulk oversees the strategic direction, business operations, legal affairs, and financial performance of these Colorado-based aerospace companies. With roughly 95 employees across the United States, the SAS Family of Companies engages in lifecycle relationships with clients in Aerospace, Aviation, Defense, and Energy providing critical guidance, tactical engineering, precision manufacturing and assembly, and procurement of mission-essential hardware.
After co-founding SAS in Boulder, Colorado, in 2007 as a Woman-Owned engineering services, systems and solution business, Ms. Bulk has managed the company’s partnerships and expanded its footprint by building new business ventures and industry networks. Today, SAS is a leader in delivering innovative systems engineering solutions to the aerospace industry, emerging commercial spaceflight sector, and U.S. government agencies, including the Department of Defense.
Seeing the need for custom manufacturing and rapid prototyping in the aerospace and aviation sectors, Ms. Bulk co-founded SAS Flight Factory, formerly SAS Manufacturing, in 2015. Based in Arvada, Colorado, this firm is an AS9100D/ISO9001 certified precision manufacturing and lifecycle company, specializing in design, machining, prototyping, 3D printing and additive manufacturing. It now serves aerospace, defense and a variety of commercial industries.
In 2018, Ms. Bulk and her daughter launched Rocket Apparel, a clothing and accoutrement company that lends women’s fashion sense to the wardrobes of aerospace professionals.
As a leader in the business community, Ms. Bulk represents SAS and other small space businesses on the Colorado Space Coalition. She is a member of YPO, representing a global community of executives committed to the shared mission of becoming “Better Leaders through Lifelong Learning and Idea Exchange.”
Ms. Bulk is dedicated to creating an inclusive engineering and the space industry. She is a passionate workforce development and STEM supporter. This commitment focuses on the support of ongoing educational initiatives at both the state and national levels. As a STEM supporter, she is actively engaged in bringing science and education together through direct interaction in Boulder County and Denver schools.
Ms. Bulk and her family have created the Who Dreams Wins Foundation, which fosters STEM education and provides scholarships and technology to those in need.
Nowadays Ms. Bulk is the proud owner of a Pilatus aircraft and a member of the Pilots Association.
