SAS wins 2021 Aerospace Manufacturer of the Year

Special Aerospace Services (SAS) has won the 2021 Aerospace Manufacturer of the Year category of the Colorado Manufacturer Awards. The category recognizes outstanding contract and OE manufacturing and supply-chain operations in Colorado’s world-class aerospace economy. SAS was selected from a trio of finalists including Redwire Space and MBK Machine in Longmont.

The awards were presented virtually at the end of April by CompanyWeek Publisher Bart Taylor and Manufacturer's Edge CEO Tom Bugnitz. Dan Thoren of 2020 Aerospace Manufacturer of the Year awardee Barber-Nichols virtually handed the trophy to this year's winner.

CMA founder and CompanyWeek publisher Bart Taylor said, "The recognition of SAS was a bit overdue, but better late than never. Heather and her team are such quality representatives of Colorado's aerospace community. Congratulations to the SAS team."

Heather Bulk accepted the 2021 Aerospace Manufacturer of the Year award virtually: "I'm ecstatic on behalf of our team. It's good to be in aerospace -- what a great environment."

The 2021 Colorado Manufacturing Awards build on five successful years of recognizing outstanding companies and people shaping American manufacturing, in a region emerging as a model for a new, dynamic sector. With 14 categories, 30 judges, and more than 40 finalists, this year's CMAs were the biggest yet. The full list of winners is available on the CompanyWeek website.
