Heather L. Bulk
CEO and Co-Founder
Heather L. Bulk is the Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of Special Aerospace Services and SAS Manufacturing. SAS is a leader in aerospace systems engineering solutions and is a Certified 8(a), Woman-Owned engineering services, systems and solutions business. The Companies provide innovative aerospace solutions to the aerospace industry, U.S. government agencies, Department of Defense, and the emerging commercial spaceflight sector.
After co-founding the Company in 2007, Ms. Bulk has been responsible for providing direction for the company’s business strategy, as well as oversight of SAS’ legal affairs and financial performance. Throughout her tenure at SAS, Ms. Bulk has managed the Company’s numerous partnerships and expanded the Company’s footprint through new business ventures and industry networks, including SAS Manufacturing. SAS Manufacturing, a Colorado-based AS9100C/ISO9001:2008 certified precision manufacturing company, specializes in design, precision machining, prototyping, 3D printing, and additive manufacturing, and services the Aerospace, Defense, and Commercial Industries.
Prior to her work at SAS, Heather spent over 17 years as a senior executive in financial planning to some of the country’s most affluent families and business owners. She completed her Executive Juris Doctorate degree in 2007, and holds a Masters in Taxation (LLM) from the University Of Denver and a Bachelor of Science degree (Finance) from California State University, Chico.
Heather represents SAS and other small space businesses on the Colorado Space Business Round Table and Colorado Space Coalition. She is an instrument rated pilot and a member of AOPA.
Ms. Bulk is also a member of YPO, representing a global community of leaders committed to the shared mission of becoming “Better Leaders through Lifelong Learning and Idea Exchange”. Heather is dedicated to promoting the inclusion of more women at SAS and the space industry in general. This commitment includes support of ongoing education initiatives at the state of Colorado and national levels. She is a passionate STEM supporter and is engaged in bringing science and education together, through direct interaction in both Boulder County and Denver Schools.
